Earlier
this month Aldi issued an upbeat Irish update, saying it had its busiest
Christmas ever, with the week before the festive season seeing sales jump 10pc
year-on-year. The German discounter said it had an extra 350,000 shoppers
through the door in the run up to Christmas.
Budget
grocery chain Aldi is to create more than 500 new jobs this year to support its
ongoing growth and expansion in Ireland.
The
retailer also plans to open seven new stores here in 2019.
Among
the opportunities currently available in Aldi are for area managers, store
managers, and store assistant across Aldi's entire 137 stores nationwide.
Meanwhile,
the group announced a new minimum rate of pay of €11.90 an hour, matching the
living wage rate recommended by the Living Wage Technical Group.
Giles
Hurley, CEO Aldi UK and Ireland, said:
"We plan on hiring 500 new employees this year to join the Aldi
team and contribute to our growth and success."
