JACQUES KALLIS LAST MATCH IN TEST CRICKET- SOUTH AFRICA AND CRICKET LEGEND RETIRES!
The ongoing Test Match between India and South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban, is the last test match Kallis is playing. Undoubtedly, the Greatest All rounder, if not better than Gary Sobers. A Cricket Legend. While Sachin retired two months back, the announcement of Kallis retirement is a big blow to the game of Cricket. He has however inspired many around the world and the South African team will definitely look to carry the torch that he has burnt from 1995 to 2013!
Sachin Tendulkar has retired from Cricket- Last test match against West Indies- Shane Warne of Australia says Sachin Best Batsman
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has retired. A sad day indeed for all his die-hard fans. But he has left a legacy in the sport of Cricket which no one else can match. Don Bradman once said Sachin's batting was similar to his own. The whole world has seen how Sachin used to be a one man army till the late ninetees. Along came Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virendar Sehwag and all hell broke loose for Team India. Team records started changing. Yes Sachin was finally relieved to a certain extent at last. And from this period onwards he started to enjoy his game. A break in the form of injuries blocked Sachin for few years. But he came back, stronger, and once again showed why he is Sachin Tendulkar! Well, as always, there are critics for Sachin as well. They say he never won games for India. But then that is the whole logic for Cricket- its a team game and not an individual game. If Sachin alone was supposed to win matches then why is there the need for the remaining 10 cricketeers? Then they say he played for records. Really? So what you say is Sachin has an uncanny divine or magical power of deciding which record to break before the match begins? Wow! Thats news to me.
They then say he crumbles under pressure because his average in the 4th innings in test matches is very poor. Again you expect him to be the solo cricketer for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, eh? What more can a human being do on the cricket field? In that case hows this for pressure handling- Sachin is the top scorer in 3 ODI World Cups!
Anyway, he has now retired leaving an empty space in the hears of every cricket lover.
All the best Sachin Tendulkar.
And thank you very much for all the entertainment during the 2 decades!!!
Ireland not in next Cricket World Cup! Despite pulling up great performances and winning matches in the international arena, minnows Ireland is snubbed by the great Cricket council ICC! Ireland has proved that they are not the ordinary minnow team when minnows are considered but they do have the potential to beat a full nation member team on their day. And that too consistently. But now ICC has decided that the next world cup in 2015 should only be the top ten full nation member countries irrespective of their wins or losses when compared to minnows.
ICC Decision for 10 Nation Cricket Cup not helping Minnows This decision does no good to upcoming minnows like Ireland and Netherlands because they will not get the opportunity to play against top nations and will also lose the experience of playing in big tournaments. What Ireland and Netherlands need now is experience! They have to be included in tri nation tournaments so they can develop their cricketing skills. After all wasn't India and Sri Lanka also considered as minnows at one stage? South Africa and New Zealand didn't reach cloud 9 in a single day either! This only demotivates countries who would like to enter and perform in the Cricket sport. ICC must change their decision in order to get the support of all Cricket fans and take steps to ensure regular tournaments with minnows are organised.
ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup only profiting ICC
However ICC has proved that this decision only profits them as they get more sponsors to pay hefty sums only for matches with full nation countries. Well the ICC has now announced a meeting to take place in June 2011 where they may reconsider or put in new conditions for Ireland to meet if they want to play the next world cup. Anyway, the world now asks: "Is this an ICC World Cup 2015 or Ten Nation Cricket Cup?"
Australia out of Cricket World Cup 2011 Finally Australia loses! India defeated the Aussies!
India have done it. First Pakistan defeated the Aussies in the Group Stage and now India defeats them in the Quarters. India now plays against Pakistan in the Semi final! Batting first, Shane Watson and Brad Haddin made a good start until the 9th over when Watson was bowled by R Ashwin. Enter Ricky Ponting, the Aussie Captain who led the Aussies to World Cup victories twice in a row, but now completely out of form, and is desperately looking for a big score especially in this important pressure match against India. Punter played a classic innings and scored his 5th World Cup 100 under pressure. With good support from David Hussey at the other end, Ponting made 104 from 118 balls when he played straight to the hands of Zaheer Khan in Ashwin's 48th over. A classic innings by a classic batsman! Aussies 260 for 6 in 50 overs. Ashwin, Khan and Yuvraj claimed 2 wickets each.
Indian Tigers chasing the Kangaroos!
After a good start Sehwag fell giving way for Gambhir who was a bit rusty in this tournament so far. Then began a good foundation. Sachin and Gambhir started to build a good partnership while Sachin also completed 18000 runs in ODIs. Just when everyone thought Sachin would get to his century he nicked one to Haddin on 53. Once more a partnership ensured between Kohli and Gambhir who registered his 50. After the loss of Dhoni who tried to go for a big one, for the team's cause, though it looked like one for the crowd and that consecutively in 2 matches, Yuvraj, the man in form, came out and displayed his talent and maturity. Along with a sensible Suresh Raina, Yuvraj steered India to the semis and in the process thumping out the Mighty Aussies out the World Cup and making way for a new Champion Nation. For the Aussies, Lee, Watson, Tait and David Hussey took 1 wicket each.
Good Luck India
On 20th March 2011, India faces Pakistan for a spot in the finals. Can Afridi and his boys do it for Pakistan? Will Dhoni's talented team do it for India? Will the viewers witness their favourite cricket war once again? Let's wait and see... In the meantime South Africa will play against New Zealand tomorrow. Good luck to both teams.
Ever since Ireland started out in International Cricket, they have been winning constantly and that too by upsetting few of the top teams in the world. The 3rd of March 2011 was no exception either. The Men in Green has stunned the England Team which further shows that Associates should be included in future World Cups as well. It not only gives them the experience to face the world's biggest teams but also the experience of playing in a major tournaments like the World Cup. The ICC should take steps to ensure that countries like Ireland and Netherlands do get the opportunity to participate in tournaments involving the top sides. This will help the Associates to learn how to play competitive Cricket under huge pressure so they will bring out the best in them. So Congratulations Ireland!!!
TEST STATUS FOR IRELAND INCHES CLOSER...WILL ICC APPROVE?
It wont be a surprise if Ireland soon become not only the ODI World Champions but also the Test Champions! But will the ICC approve Test status for Ireland? The way the Irish are playing they definitely will get the Test status. So the question is not 'will' but 'when'! When will ICC approve the Test status? That is what the country is hoping to hear as soon as possible because the young talent in the squad may not have the patience to wait for a long time. They may follow the footsteps of Ed Joyce, Eoin Morgan and many more. But in the meantime, GO Green!
IRELAND VICTORY IN WORLD CUP! HISTORIC RUN CHASE...INDIAN FANS SUPPORTED THE IRISH! Bangalore Cricket fans witnessed an outstanding and unbelievable match between England and Ireland. Outstanding because both teams made runs in excess of 300 courtesy the fastest World Cup Century by KJ O Brien- 100 from 50 balls and unbelievable because Ireland came out victorious by defeating the English team! The Green Team not only had their Irish fans cheering them up but for every run that an Irishman was scoring the Indian fans seated in the stadium jumped and shouted and waved their hands supporting the entire Irish Team who broke many records during the run fest!
Future Cricket Star Kevin O Brien
Batting first, England posted a huge total of 327 for 8 wickets in 50 overs. While Trott missed his century by 8 runs, IR bell fell for 81 and Kevin Pietersen for 59. For the Irish bowling JF Mooney was the most successful taking 4 wickets and DT Johnston striking 2. Chasing the target Ireland was down at 111 for 5 wickets in the 24th over when the historic event took place in the stadium. A see saw of a match saw KOB run out for 113 from 63 balls who hit 13 4s and 6 sixes, Cusack run out for 47, Stirling and Joyce both out for 32 & NJ O brien, elder brother of KOB, with 29 runs. The big guy KO Brien and his batting partner AR Cusack played their roles to life Ireland from ashes to glory. A last assault from Mooney saw his contribution of 33 from 30 balls bring victory for the Irishmen. Ireland won by 3 wickets with 5 balls remaining. K O Brien took the Man of the Match award. A historic triumph indeed! One of the best matches and one of the biggest upsets of the World Cup tournament.
KOB IS THE MAN! The new IPL MAN is KJ O Brien!
Well, now that 26 yo KOB has showcased his big hitting talents, the IPL may be looking to book him for their matchs very soon. After all, this was one of the biggest sporting moments in Irish history. An Irish fan has already said that even if Ireland does not defeat the remaining teams in the World Cup, it doesnt matter as the Irish team has defeated the English! This was the intensity of their win. ALL THE BEST TEAM IRELAND!!!

Are India Favourites? (The photo is original which I have uploaded in Alamy. Please contact Alamy for commercial inquiries)
Billions of Indians around the world have only one dream right now. India must bring home the Cricket World Cup 2011 Trophy! Dhoni & Co. must be crowned the Champions! So will this happen? Well, for the last two years India has been playing some of the best Cricket ever and they are the current No. 1 Test playing nation as well. Yes the Australians are the No. 1 ODI side but India is quickly closing in on them. So if they continue this current form they are sure to be the champions in the World Cup Tournament that started on the 19th of February 2011. And the opening match was also won by hosts India when they beat co-host Bangladesh. Sri Lanka, co-host as well, is also a strong contender for the cup. Do you think Team India will win?
Aussies and Proteas are also Champion Nations
Well, the current Aussie Team may not be the old 'Never say Die' Team but they still have some fighters who is still being led by the Cricket Legend Ricky Ponting. Ricky who is the next best after Sachin Tendulkar when it comes to stats seems the best person to win the cup for Australia. South Africa, as always, the nemesis for both Australia and India is also a top contender for the Trophy.
Pakistan and England
However, there are still some who favour Pakistan and England. While Pakistan is the Dark Horse who can surprise anyone at any time, England are close behind with the Ashes and Twenty2o Trophies in their pockets. So fans all over the world are watching the matches hoping for their favourite team to win the World Cup.

My friend's Facebook update read "After buying tickect for one day..the very evening i came to know...sachin,sehwag...zaheer nor bhajji is playing the series...now it's non stop rain..hmmmmm...hmmmmmmmmm"
Haha...I spoke to him and he said he had no words to describe his situation. India was scheduled to play against Australia in Kochi today. But the Indian team was without Sachin, Sehwag, Harbhajan and Zaheer Khan. The Aussie team was without Ricky Ponting as well. What a shame! This ODI series is between the two top teams in the world. It promised lots of action and drama. Unfortunately most of the fans dont get to see the stars they paid to see. Who knows- it could have been the last time we would have got to see Sachin and Ponting playing against each other. Heh, it could have also been the last time Sreesanth would be bowling to Ponting...
Of course it is an opportunity for the youngsters to claim their position in the team while ultimately, the whole nation will be supporting India to win irrespective of the stars' absence in the field. But just like some 'Sachin' loyal supporters and fans, my friend too didnt know that these Cricket stars were missing. He was really shocked when he came to know about it. And to add to his dismay, the match has been abandoned because of non-stop rain and by now I'm sure he must be eating his ticket. I havent asked him if he will get it refunded though. Heh heh....Yeah these kind of things happen to everyone. Even I have faced situations like these. Haha....But it's fun when you think about it later- heh, laughing at our own misery...hahaha......Well, the good news is that all those who bought the ticket also got a free blue colour Nike T-shirt along with it. So, I think he is happy because he can atleast keep the T-shirt as a memorable item. Chak de India!
SACHIN TENDULKAR WORLD RECORD HITS FIRST ODI DOUBLE CENTURY – 200 NOT OUT VS SOUTH AFRICA!!! Cricket history opened a new chapter on 24 Feb 2010, at Gwalior, when Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar made the first double century in Cricket One Day International against South Africa, the team with the current best bowling attack in the world. I was not able to watch the match but I read the scoreboard in ESPN CRICINFO website sitting here in Ireland.
Congratulations from Cricketers and other Sportstars, Celebrities, Politicians on Sachin’s First ODI 200- Tributes from Famous Personalities!!!
1. "Come on Sachin my friend get your 200. World record to please! You deserve it… Nervous for my good friend Sachin everything crossed for you mate… Glad I'm not bowling to him today ha ha ha." Shane Warne, Australia Cricket, tweets his excitement as Sachin nears the double-century 2. "He should aim for more. Maybe a Test innings of 450 or an ODI knock of 250. And then he himself wants to win next year's World Cup. There is a little boy in Tendulkar who wants to keep playing. That spirit keeps him going. It's absolutely incredible how he keeps going." Sunil Gavaskar, India Cricket
3. "Nobody else does deserve to get there. It's only Sachin who deserves to scale that peak. 200 is a big score in one-day cricket. It's not easy to get there. It took him 20 long years to get there. He has come a long way. It's Sachin's greatness. Records are meant to be broken. I heard somebody [Charles Coventry] equalled my record sometime ago. But I did not know him. It's great that my friend from Mumbai Sachin broke it. I am very happy for him."
Saeed Anwar, Pakistan Cricket, who was the joint record holder with Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe (194 not out), for the highest ODI score of 194
4. "I thought the way he celebrated when he reached his 200 epitomised the man's persona. There was no running laps around the field, no aggressive gestures, nothing over-the-top. He did what he always does, raised both his arms, closed his eyes for a moment and quietly acknowledged that it had been done."
Anil Kumble, India Cricket
5. "What an innings it was. He had come close to achieving it twice. I always felt that Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya are capable of doing that."
Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka Cricket Captain
6. "The unbeaten 200 that Sachin made at Gwalior is a benchmark for others to follow. Now, there will be lot of players who believe that they can also make 200 in an one-day international. We will wait and see."
VVS Laxman, India Cricket
7. "It was a brilliant innings and if you speak to Saeed Anwar, he would be so glad Tendulkar was the one to break his record. We all know how talented and how passionate he is about the game but it's incredible that at the age of 36 he is still going on, he plays the full 50 overs, runs hard and at no point during this knock did he look like he was going to throw his wicket away.”
Aamer Sohail, Saeed Anwar's good friend and opening partner, Pakistan Cricket
8. "Tendulkar is sincerity personified. He has made sacrifices in his life, there is a lot of dedication involved and he is very passionate about achieving something. He is like us but it's his mental toughness that sets him apart. He knows what exactly he is doing and he is strongly determined and focussed. He will bring more laurels to the country"
Kapil Dev, India Cricket
9. I was very proud to have held the record for a little while but there could be no better man in the history of the game to break through the 200 barrier. Zimbabwe versus Bangladesh.India versus South Africa. Not quite in the same bracket, are they?"
Charles Coventry, Zimbabwe Cricket, who was the joint record holder (194 not out) with Saeed Anwar of Pakistan (194), for the highest ODI score of 194
10. "It shows his mental and physical toughness. He's a player who does not throw away his wicket once he's set. He always places a huge price on his wicket." Dilip Vengsarkar, India Cricket 11. "He is my favourite player. I had said that one day he would go on to break all batting records and now you see him scoring runs and runs." Javed Miandad, Pakistan Cricket
12. "He has got so much class. His greatest strength is the longevity, to be able to be so successful at a young age and to still be doing the same thing 20 years on. We're blessed to still have such a great player playing this game."
Michael Clarke, Australia Cricket, didn't watch the innings, but plans to catch the highlights
13. "He has always respected the game and is dedicated to it. But I think this is not enough for him. He is hungry and I am sure he will keep creating new records. He is a dedicated student of the game and is still keen to learn things." Ramakant Achrekar, Tendulkar's childhood coach
14. "Whatever record is seen to be impossible to achieve, he makes it possible. That's all I can say. It seems as he's getting older, he is becoming more and more mature. No wonder Sir Donald Bradman saw himself in the way Sachin bats." Bapu Nadkarni, King of Parsimony 15. "Sachin - the greatest ever player ever - without any doubt… I salute Sachin... World's greatest sportsman. We can see him only rise. (He is an) inspiration to us all. He is the best." IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi YouTube Video of Sachin Tendulkar making first 200 in ODI
