10 Fire Disasters On Halloween- 5 Measures For Safety From Fire Fun On Halloween!

Don’t play with fire, it’s Halloween Day!!!

Halloween Holiday- Costumes, Jack O Lanterns, Trick or Treating, parties and loads of fun!! But the Halloween celebrations are not yet complete without the 2 most important reasons why children love to celebrate the Halloween Night- Fireworks and Bonfires!!! Unfortunately, while they have fun, they are not aware that somewhere during the fun, these fires will end them up with serious burns and injuries to their hands and eyes!

Here are 10 most horrific dangers when you play with Halloween Fire:

10 Dangers of Fire Fun on Halloween Night!

"Fireworks are known not only for the injuries they cause to our bodies, but they are also great sources of distubance to families where babies sleep, the elderly require rest and children are engaged in studies!"

1. Most fireworks are illegally sold without any quality checks. This makes them very dangerous to use as they are mostly defective and harmful as well.

2. Legal action will be taken against those who dump their household waste for creating bonfires.

3. Full time supervision of children is necessary as they are thrilled to be near the fires but do not understand it’s dangerous effects if they get too near to the fire.

4. Children should be kept away from fireworks as any accident with fireworks will cause burns and serious body harms to the hands and eyes.

5. If fireworks are thrown in public places, there is every chance of a fire outbreak in people’s property and houses resulting in large-scale damages. The Police will severely charge those guilty of such offences.

6. Individuals dump household wastes for burning bonfires. This will result in air pollution and will also affect human beings as these wastes may contain plastic, electricals, toxic liquids and other harmful pollution causing materials which will produce dangerous and life threatening health problems.

7. Fireworks are known not only for the injuries they cause to our bodies, but they are also great sources of distubance to families where babies sleep, the elderly require rest and children are engaged in studies.

8. Police will be on patrol throughout the night to avoid any sort of criminal or anti social activities which usually arise during celebrations and seasonal holidays.

9. Lighting fireworks in restricted areas or possession of illegal fireworks are crimes and if caught, then criminial prosecution will be undertaken.

10. Use of fireworks causes loud noise and smoke enabling the smoke alarms to sound. This distresses residential areas who will dial emergency numbers as distress calls. The entire drama wastes the time and energy of everyone, the Police, the law breakers and the families who makes the call.

5 Fire Safety Measures required during Halloween Party Night!

1. Firstly, plan bonfires in places where there is good supply of water and away from residential areas.

2. Never burn bonfires or light up fireworks while standing near to telephone or electrical line posts or cables.

3. An elderly person or Authorised Officer must keep children away from fires and make sure that harmful and highly flammable resources like kerosene, petrol, etc:- are not used to light bonfires.

4. Each individual must be responsible to check that all fires are put out before they leave the area.

5. Start bonfires atleast a couple of feet away from the people so that no fireworks are lit near the bonfires.

5 Ways To Protect Your Pets During Halloween!

Protect your Pets during Halloween!

"As always, there are few people who think beyond the danger zone and unnecessarily choose the negative turn. Don’t let your PETS out on Halloween night as they may end up in the wrong hands of these kind of people and your pets will serve as 'torture victims' and sometimes even as 'stuffed parcels' at your doorsteps!"

Precautions on Halloween are not meant for people alone. Pets are also subject to accidents and attacks and on Halloween night they should also be given extra care so that no harm is caused to them. Here are 5 ways to protect your pets during Halloween Night:

5 Pet Care Measures On Halloween!

1. The Halloween fireworks and bonfires causes great discomfort not only to people but also to animals whether pets, strays or farm animals. So don't take out your pets towards celebrating areas.

2. Children who play with fireworks and others who plan bonfires must keep it away from pets as the loud noise, fire and lights will definitely scare and frghten them making them restless for the rest of the night.

3. Once your pet is kept safe, be a 'Animal Hero' and try and take care of others pets which may find itself in trouble.

4. "As always, there are few people who think beyond the danger zone and unnecessarily choose the negative turn. Don’t let your pets out on Halloween night as they may end up in the wrong hands of these kind of people and your pets will serve as torture victims and sometimes even as stuffed parcels at your doorsteps!"

5. If you feel that your pet is threatened and help is away from your hands, then please call up the Patrol Officers who will be on road duty on Halloween night.

HALLOWEEN IS THE FESTIVAL OF THE DEAD!!!

HALLOWEEN IS THE FESTIVAL OF THE DEAD!!!

Halloween, though openly associated with evil, is celebrated by most of the Western countries and falls on 31st October. It is also called ‘All Saints Eve’ , ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ and ‘Festival of the Dead!’ (The name says it all...). The festival begins at sunset and ends at midnight every 31st October. As it is celebrated in the night time, the festival is common for the colors Orange and Black, which resembles the darkness of sunset and night. It also symbolises the colour of the fire which comes from the pumpkins called Jack O Lanterns. This is why many Halloween decoration items and costumes are mostly coloured in Black and Orange. The most common Halloween treats are candy or toffe apples, caramel or taffu apples as Halloween holiday falls during the start of the annual Apple Harvest.

Celtic and Christian Cultures- the Halloween Background Traditions

The Halloween festival has a background of mixed cultures with the Celtic Festival of Samhain in Europe and the Christian taditional holy day of All Saints. While ‘All Saints’ is celebrated on 1st November where all the Saints are said to be gathering and remembered, it’s eve, 31st October is celebrated as the night before the Saints arrive where spirits of dead people, good or bad, come back to visit their families. It is from here that the concept of dressing in scary costumes was evolved in order to scare off the bad spirits. Thus the festival is secular with roots from both Celtic and Christian traditions mainly from Ireland and Scotland. It is the main factor how Halloween found it’s entry into America with the entry of Irish immigrants in the 18th century with reminders of the Great Irish Famine Period.

Halloween Celebrations

Halloween os celebrated with Trick or Treats, scary costumes, haunted locations, halloween parties, scary stories, fireworks, bonfires, horror films, carving pumpkins, eating ghost shaped sweets, etc:- Traditionally, the lanterns were a symbol of harvest time. As years passed, these lanterns were introduced to Halloween and were carved from turnips with designs of scary and funny faces. Now everyone carves Pumpkins as they are more bigger and spacier making it easy to carve. These lanterns are then lighted and kept in from of the house after sunset. People decorate their houses with ghostly characters like ghosts, monsters, witches, goblins, skeletons and vampires. Animal characters of wolves, bats, crows and spiders are also used.

TRICK OR TREAT!!!

Children celebrate Trick or treat on Halloween. They visit houses dressed in ghostly costumes shouting "Trick or treat?" With Treat, they mean to ask for sweets or even money. And with Trick, they mean to say that they will do some kind of a prank or mischief to the household if they dont get any treats. As a tradition in Ireland and Scotland, children must earn their treats by telling scary stories, dancing or singing songs. Food treats include Colcannon and Barmbrack from Ireland, Bonfire Toffee from Britian, Candy Corn from North America and other common treats like Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Bread, Candy Apples, Caramel Apples, Soul Cakes, Caramel Corn, Roasted Sweet Corn, etc:-

Some types of Traditional Halloween Games

1. Apple Bobbing or Dunking- The participant must take out an apple from the tub of bucket of water using only his teeth.

2. Fork Dunking- The participant must kneel on a chair with a fork between his teeth which he must drop into the apple.

3. Scone eating contest- Here, participants should try to jump and eat scones, coated with syrup and tied onto strings at a high level, while having their hands tied behind their backs.

RELIGION ON HALLOWEEN- FESTIVAL WHICH GLORIFIES EVIL

Though Halloween is widely a secular celebration, there are some sections of the people who have expressed strong religious statements about it. In the West, many Christians take Halloween as just another festival which is not satanic nor unspiritual for their children. In fact, they see it as a time to value the cultural heritage of their Celtic ancestors. However, there are other Christians who avoid Halloween celebrations as they believe that it practises evil and sorcery making it an accepted public glorification of the devil and other dark powers of hell. Some perceive Halloween as an insult to the Christian faith it originated as a pagan "Festival of the Dead." While many contemporary Protestant churches celebrate Halloween as a fun event for children and hold costume events in their churches with games and candy, few other Churches abstain from celebrating Halloween for they believe that a True Christian should never celbrate a festival orignating from the pagans especially a Festival of the Dead!

Beware Halloween Night: “PARENTS, 10 INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY!

"Parents, please follow these instructions for your child’s safety!!"

It’s Halloween today. Your children have been waiting all summer to go out in their fancy costumes Trick or Treating. They will enjoy all through the night with fun, laughter and games. The excitement will reach it’s peak once the bonfires burn up and fireworks are lit up. However, with every step of their fun and games, they are also prone to major accidents, injuries and disasters on a Halloween Night. Parents, it’s up to you to take care of your children so that they return home safe and sound after the night’s party. So here are 10 steps to check the safety of your children on Halloween Night:

10 Children’s Safety Measures For Halloween Night!

"Always let your child go 'Trick or Treating' with a familiar group and not alone. You can never doubt a 'kid’napper' who dresses like a scare-crow on Halloween.!"

1. While carving pumpkins for 'Jack O Lanterns', parents should either do it themselves or supervise children into using plastic or party knives instead of sharp kitchen knives.

2. Always let your child go 'Trick or Treating' with a familiar group and not alone. You can never doubt a 'kid’napper' who dresses like a scare-crow on Halloween.

3. Come to a mutual understanding on the route which will be decided for the group to go Trick or Treating and no alternate routes.

4. Ensure that every child in the group is familiar with the houses they will be visiting and not to entertain homes of strangers.

5. Unless accompanied by a parent or an elderly group leader is available, children should never get into any person’s house.

6. The costumes, wigs and other clothing materials used should not limit the child’s movement and must be fire- resistant.

7. Small reflectors can be attached to their dress so that their walk during the night is safe and clearly visible to all. Equip them with extra change for a phone call or a mobile, an umbrella and a flashlight.

8. Make sure your child dresses wisely with normal attire to protect themselves from the cold weather and also to avoid any problem that may arise if the Halloween costume has been destroyed or torn apart.

9. All toy weapons, gadgets or any other resources that is part of the costume must not be sharp, flammable, or harmful to others. Use fire- resistant, soft and safe resources to enjoy a Happy Halloween.

10. Never allow your children to light fireworks or bonfires. Keep them well away from all kinds of fiery celebrations to keep them from burns and other injuries to the body.

Mighty Dhoni's India Minces Meat out of Ponting's Aussies!!

Ricky Ponting bites his nail in India again!!!

Dhoni's 107 ball 124 runs helped in ensuring a victory over the Mighty Australia! The devastating century by Indian Captain M.S.Dhoni destructed Ponting's plan of taking the dew advantage while he sent India to bat after winning the toss!

Destructive Dhoni at the best of his destruction!!!

Once again a good opening partnership was about to turn into a batting order collapse when Sehwag (40 runs), Sachin(4 runs) and Yuvraj Singh (23 runs) got out even before the scoreboard read 100 runs. But then came Destructive Dhoni and steadied the innings with Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir was out after a valiant 76 runs but the partnership he shared with Dhoni was a superb 113 runs which really brought India out of trouble!

Mr. Cameo Suresh Raina

"More crackers were added to the fireworks when Suresh Raina played a cameo knock of 62 from 50 balls!!"

More crackers were added to the fireworks when Suresh Raina played a cameo knock of 62 from 50 balls!! Together Raina and Dhoni added 136 runs for the 5th wicket which is India's highest against Australia! The target set India set for the Kangaroos to win was a massive 355!! MEK Hussey played his famous repetitive 'Backbone' role for Australia. But they lost by 99 runs!!

Indian Bowlers

R.A.Jadeja grabbed 3 wickets for 35 (6.3 overs) while Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar took 2 wickets each from 8 overs. Whether or not India is said to be Lions when they bat first, it's Kudos time for the Men in Blue! Congratulations India, you have earned this victory!!

Record 8th wicket partnership of 84 runs by Harbhajan and Praveen Kumar almost beat Ricky Ponting's Aussies in 1st ODI- India Vs Australia match...

Ricky Ponting and his Aussie mates beat India's Bhajji and pacer Praveen Kumar

Everyone thought that India would win today's ODI match at Vadodara. Honestly when India lost
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina, we were sure that India would lose and so we lost interest in the match. Yet, like every passionate Indian Cricket supporters we hopefully stayed glued to the screen in case some miracle happened. And our hope paid off!! But finally Australia defeated India by 4 runs.

Enter Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar

The way these two batted really helped in raising the hopes of Indians who were watching today's
live cricket match between India and Australia. While the top order, barring Gautam Gambhir who made 68 runs, M.S Dhoni with 34 runs and Virat Kohli with 30 runs, had a major top order collapse, it was these two bowler batsmen or tail enders who raised the India's scoreboard from 201 for 7 wickets to 285 runs!!!

Australia Innings

"If J.P Duminy has been predicted as the next Ricky Ponting by former Australian Captain Ian Chappell, then Ponting need not be bothered by it at all, because the way he is still playing at 34 years of age, it shows just what kind of a Superstar Cricketer he is, and how difficult it's going to be for someone to be his successor!"

Once again, the Mighty Aussies showed their dominance in World Cricket. Four half centuries from their top order batsmen including Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey the next Michael Bevan, registered a huge target of 292 runs for the Men in Blue to chase and win. However, this was not the case. If J.P Duminy has been predicted as the next Ricky Ponting by former Australian Captain Ian Chappell, then Ponting need not be bothered by it at all, because the way he is still playing at 34 years of age, it shows just what kind of a Superstar Cricketer he is, and how difficult it's going to be for someone to be his successor!

Come on India- Cheer up!

Hey, overall, I would say that India lost a fighting match in the end thanks to the
two tail enders. With a good start by Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, the chase was not good as the Aussie bowlers spearheaded by Brett Lee and Nathan Hauritz restricted runs for India. And though the Indian bowlers, except Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, found it hard to stop the Aussie run flood, it were the bowlers The Turbanator and Praveen Kumar who turned batsmen and kept the match alive to bring the winning chase to 6 runs from the last ball. The 8th wicket 84 runs partnership between them was the India's highest in an ODI match! Hats off to you guys!! In the end, we learnt a lesson to never understimate India until the end of the match ;)

I'm new at Twitter! Twitter is fun, quick & informative with lots of friends who twitters! But what exactly is Twitter all about?

I'm new at Twitter! Twitter is fun, quick & informative with lots of friends who twitters! But what exactly is Twitter all about ?

The reason I joined Orkut, Facebook, Twitter, Hi-5 and LinkedIn!

The 'About Us' section in 'Twitter' says that "Twitter has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices." I have accounts in some social networking sites like 'Orkut', 'Facebook' and 'HI-5'. I also have an account in the professional networking site 'LinkedIn'. And I like all these sites which I have joined. It not only helps me by being my online safety deposit locker where I can treasure all my friends, but it also helps me to come in contact with all those who once disappeared at some stage or the other in my life, see everyone whenever my heart feels like seeing them even though they are oceans away, and makes sure that everyone who once come in my Friend's List do not disappear again no matter which part of the world they migrate to, whether or not they forget or remember to call you up and pass you the information! Even an absence of regular scraps or messages in this fast-running busily scheduled life of ours really does not matter as long as you know they are in that online safety depost locker of yours!!!

My Introduction to Twitter! It definitely is worth everything for the difference it is!!!

The first social networking site I joined was Hi-5 which one of my childhood friend from Bahrain had introduced me to. One of my collegues in the web stock photography company that I worked for had introduced me to Orkut. The reason I joined Facebook is because most of my friends in Dubai suddenly said that Orkut is banned there and so they joined Facebook. But all these sites are really fun and most importantly these have helped me to get back in touch with almost all my old and long lost friends especially my childhood friends who studied with me in 'Indian School, Bahrain' (at Isa Town, Bahrain). I thank God for blessing people with skills to use technology for these kind of purposes. Now, my friend Sanjoy, who is a film critic and automobile journalist, urged me to join Twitter, which I did thinking that here is another networking site like the ones I joined earlier and this too will build my online relationship with my friends. But this is where I realised that Twitter is not just another social networking site. It definitely is worth everything for the difference it is!!!

Can you SMS with 140 word limit?...Tweet me!

Okay, maybe it does not let me have all the
snaps and videos in front of me at one time. But this is where it differs! I know I can easily see all my friends' snaps and videos in Orkut and Facebook, and so I don't need Twitter for that purpose. But the fact that you get to tweet within only 140 words is a different quality altogether. Not only does this help in sending quick SMS-like messages, but with tiny url's working at your favour, you still have everything at your fingertips by just clicking on the links that are sent to you. Yes, safety is a matter to be considered, but then like I said, I am new at Twitter and so I still have a lot to learn about it.

Simple and Stress-Free......Twitter the Philosopher!

But for the moment, I am enjoying what I'm able to do in Twitter-
twittering!! These tweets may be too short to be messaged out, but when you read them, they still make you laugh, they show how your friend has suddenly become a philosopher because he challenged himself to bring out his best out of the limited 140 character space and sometimes you actually find yourself reading the daily news headlines and other important topics which you otherwise used to ignore.

Happy Tweeting, Twitters!!! :)

"By the way, I just realised that this is my 50th post in Blogspot! Heh, Praise God!! I'm very happy... :) "

Galway Trip 1: Galway Bay

Galway Trip 1: Galway Bay

Trip to Galway Bay

The afternoon we reached Galway Coach Station, our 'Tall and lean' friend, Mr. AJS drove us to his house, where our 'Crafty' Balto friend, Mr. KJR was preparing Vada and Chutney for us. What a welcome it was for us especially after our long and tired journey. Well, the journey was not so tiresome as we thought it would be because the City Links bus was really comfortable and we hardly felt like we were travelling on the road.

Historical Site- Galway Bay...

Anyway, that evening we visited Galway Bay. Geographically, Galway Bay is between Connacht in County Galway and The Burren in County Clare. In Galway City, you can actually see this bay from the bridge on the main road from Galway Coach Station to Galway City Center. As many locations in Ireland, this bay is also historical as it reminds you of the invading Spanish armies of the earlier centuries. Traditionally, Galway Bay is very famous for it's own unique Galway Hooker, a traditional sailing craft. Here, the bay houses all types of boats. Some boats were docked while many of them were out at sea mostly for fishing or sight seeing purposes. Across the deeper waters of the bay, there are many famous Irish islands. These are small islands and Galway Bay is the proud gateway to one of the world's most historically famous and beautiful island- 'The Aran Islands (Oileáin Árann, it's Irish name)!'

Welcoming sight for the Flatters!

We walked around the bay for some time just looking around and eyeing all the boats. At the end of the bay we stood on the steps that led down to the water level. Of course, we did'nt go down to the water level. On the side adjacent to the bay there's a big apartment where all the flatters (...heh, those who live in flats...) are sure to get the beautiful view from their balconies. Standing on the back side of the bay, you can see the other side of the bridge at the area on The Quays, where the Spanish Arch remains.

Digital Photography lessons at Galway Bay

Having spent time at the bay, we started to walk to the other side of the bridge where again the water was at a good view. There were many professional photographers and amateur photographers with their zoom lenses and tripods clicking the swans that were by the river banks below the Spanish Arch. There were also digital photography lessons being given to beginners as well. Finally our walk along Galway Bay was over. Well, this was a good evening and so we started off towards the Spanish Arch, which is above the banks of River Corrib (the river which is across The Claddagh).

We almost missed a last minute planned trip to Galway!!

We almost missed a last minute planned trip to Galway!!

Last minute call

Our crafty' friend in Baltinglass went to visit a common 'tall and soft spoken' friend who lives in Galway. He calls up the second night and tells us to reach there next morning as they have planned a few days visit to some locations in and out of Galway.

Baltinglass to Galway bus journey

Now, Galway is around four to five hours journey by bus from
Baltinglass. Sheesh, a few days visit and we have no time to think, complete the house chores, select our dress, take cash from the ATM, finish the food we still have in our fridge and those which would expire in those few days time!!!

Now the plan was to
book online tickets for the 12pm City Links bus from Dublin. And to reach Dublin, we have to get into the 10am Bus Eireann from Baltinglass so that we could reach Dublin by 11:45am.

Online booking service- We missed the bus!!

And guess what?- We started off the day by mising the 10 am bus!
Why the delay?- Because the online booking took more time than we expected, which we did in the morning just before leaving the house as we were so much into packing the previous night that we forgot all about our online task!

Anyway, we went to
Castledermot instead (as the next bus from Balto- short name for Baltingalss, was only at 12pm), and got into the 11:15 am J.J. Kavanagh bus which would reach Dublin Eden Quay (EQ is one of the the bus stations near the Dublin Bridge) at 12:45pm. Before boarding the bus at Castledermot we bought a sandwich for my wife (Bacon, lettuce and tomato) from the cafe called 'Mad Hatter Cafe' located centrally at Castledermot Town near the traffic light- opposite Londis Supermarket and in front of the bus stop. A really convenient location because we can have a quick snack or coffee and then just cross the road to the bus stop without having to rush at all- God bless them!!

Divine Reminders in life!!

But- as I was about to order the 2nd sandwich, for me, with only 5 minutes before the bus arrived, you know those last minute kind of intuitions or revelations that strike you at certain crucial stages in your life, well...that something struck me and I asked the lady at the counter if they accept
card payment (we didn't have time to take cash from the ATM). This lady was really nice and all smiles :)

"Sorry, we accept only cash and no card payment!"

O boy! Here we go again...
we ransacked whatever pockets we had including the luggage pockets and were glad to find extra change just more than our bus fare and only enough to pay for one sandwich!......I was thinking as to what would have happened had the lady prepared two sandwiches and I give her the Laser Card...Thank God for timely reminders!! :) The kind lady suggested going to the ATM which was few minutes walk from the town, but that was too far away for that moment. She even said that we can ask for a cash back from the Supermarket outside the cafe, but again, there was no time for it.

Good Customer Service... :)

So we bought the sandwich and said bye to the lady who kept on apologising because they dont accept card payments.
What an Angel! There really was no need to apologise and so we kept on thanking her for all her kind help and quickly went to the bus stop. Oh, and just as we were about to leave the cafe, I noticed a small card on the cash counter with some small words printed on it. I looked more closely just to make sure. It read...

'We do not accept cards. Sorry for the inconvenience!!!'

Hmmmmm......

Travel and Food- Tamil Style!!...Yummmmy.....mmmmm!!!

Anyway, we reached Galway
safely and happily by God's grace. We stayed there for a few days. The stay was real fun!! We visited a couple of places in and out of Galway. There is a famous song called 'The Galway Girl' by Steve Earle and Sharon Shannon with a cover version by Mundy and Shannon. Though about a Galway girl, the song expresses Irish lifestyle and Irish music. Not only was this tour memorable but I also have some mouth watering memories- These two Tamilians (...the Balto dude from Coimbatore and the Galway guy from Vellore... ) are excellent Tamil Nadu cooks I have to tell you! Really, they made some exquisite dishes just for us! Delicious!! Chicken Biriyani, Vada, chutney, Tamil Nadu dishes like Lemon Rice and Thairu Saadam (Curd Rice), Egg Salad, Chicken Masala curry, Barbecue Chicken, Payar thoren (Green Gram stir fry), Gulab Jamun....mmmm....But I shall tell you more about their menu later on in the blog though. Gotta get on with Galway first...

About Galway...a small info

1. ‘God has not forsaken us!’:

If you think that you are now in a hopeless situation because God has deserted you, then have faith and start praying once again. Because it is God's promise that it is He Who has created you; He has written your name on His palms and He is never ever going to forsake you at any time!

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me. Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. Your sons shall make haste; your destroyers and those who laid you waste shall go away from you. Lift up your eyes, look around and see; all these gather together and come to you. As I live,” says the LORD, “You shall surely clothe yourselves with them all as an ornament, and bind them on you as a bride does.” (Isaiah 49:14-18)

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6)

..Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Mathew 19:26)

That Special Leaf- It's the Autumn Fall in Ireland!

That Special Leaf- It's the Autumn Fall in Ireland!
You know, it's October now. My wife and I went to Carlow yesterday. Carlow is a county in Ireland and it's a bigger town from where we live, Baltinglass which is in Co. Wicklow. My wife was driving (as I'm only still learning to drive...) and while returning from the half an hour journey, she told me to look at the leaves of the trees on either side of the road.

I looked...

..."Yea, so what about it?"

My wife replied:

" See how the colour of the leaves are turning red and are slowly falling from the trees. It's the beginning of Autumn".

Yellow, Red and Brown- The Autumn Fall

The Autumn fall! Yes folks, for those of you who haven't noticed, you can see it now right outside your window, on the streets and in your garden. I didn't notice it because I'm new to this Season. I have been in Ireland for 6 months now. Previously I was in Kerala, India where it's rain, rain and even more rain accompanied by humidity and sweaty memories. The place is good mind you. Kerala is my hometown and there's really no place in the world to which it can be compared to. Anyway, back here now, I have been seeing these trees for the past 6 months but I really didn't wonder about the recent changes until she asked me to notice them. And I thank God I have now experienced the Fall season. So if you are a student or if you are also someone who is new to the 'Yellow, Red and Brown' season, then don't keep wondering what is happening around you because this is the Autumn season- one of the four seasons of the year- Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I'm now wondering....isn't it wonderful how God has made these seasons in an exact order and timeline...wow!........

"The heavens declare the glory of God; The skies proclaim the work of His hands." (Psalm 19:1)

O! That Special Leaf...

I remember learning about the 4 seasons in school but this is the first time I'm experiencing it. In fact while we went out walking with a friend of ours, who hails from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, he picked up a red leaf which had fallen to the ground, admired it's look which really had some artistic patterns designed in the various shades of red, and said that he's gonna keep it in a book and preserve it. Amazing! What power the fallen Autumn leaf has produced! Of course our friend is a person who is talented in making excellent crafts, so he may use the leaf in any of his crafts like a Christmas card or a Collage or something like that. But whatever it is, that particular leaf certainly had it's worth! While this month celebrates the Halloween festival in these parts of the world, here is one ordinary little leaf who lost his green shine, fallen sick with yellow, turned heel with red and finally left his partner tree and swayed right on to the ground where we humans trod upon, the vehicles zoom past by and the wind storms away it's victims, only to be picked up and feathered with joy, warmth and honur. O! That special leaf...The fallen Autumn Leaf!

Winter- the Unavoidable Guest!!

Well, last month you could see that the leaves had turned yellow. This month it's turning red and is slowly falling off the trees. Next month is Autumn at it's best. By December, the leaves would all desert their friends who supported them the entire year- the trees themselves, thus making the entry for Autumn's successor, a new season called 'Winter'- the unavoidable guest who just won't resist tempation and freeze you with his ice cold breath and the chilly shivers that he sends down your spine.
