India wins its first Test series on Australia soil 2-1. After 71 years since they first played on Aussie land, this series victory is one that will be cherished for a very long time to come. India also created history as they are the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia.

With no David Warner, Steven Smith and Bancroft, the three who have been suspended for tampering with the ball against South Africa, the Australian team was certainly weak in the batting department with the series mostly being a learning ground for the youngsters.

For India, both batsmen and bowlers had performed and executed their game effectively. Virat Kohli's two wins on this tour is the joint-most along with Bishan Bedi. India have been led by 13 Captains so far in Australia.

Chetashwar Pujara, with 521 runs in the series, won the awards for both Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

Australia Captain Tim Paine said, “Hats off to India. When we play in India, we know how difficult it is, so to win in foreign conditions is a huge effort, congratulations to Virat, Ravi and those guys. In the last two Tests, we were a little poor. We thought we had chances to win in Adelaide, but India outplayed us in big moments. In Perth, we played a good brand of cricket, but were completely outplayed in Melbourne and Sydney. India deserved to win.”

India Captain Virat Kohli said, “I've never been more proud to be part of a team than this one right here. I think the culture we have been able to build over the last 12 months [has been fantastic]. I'm proud to be part of this team. To lead these players is an honour and privilege. They make a captain look good.”
