Amy Barrett releases 2nd single ‘HEARTBREAK’ song recorded by Baltinglass singer/songwriter Mark ‘Cappy’ Caplice

17-year-old Dunlavin schoolgirl, Amy Barrett has released her second single, Heartbreak. This comes after her first single, ‘Emilio’, was released in April 2018 and was successful globally. ‘Heartbreak’ was recorded by Amy along with singer/songwriter/producer Mark ‘Cappy’ Caplice of Baltinglass, who along with Ryan O’Shaughnessy and Laura co-wrote the song ‘Together’ which was Ireland’s entry to Eurovision 2018 at Lisbon and won the 16th position. Heartbreak is mixed by by Cian Sweeney, also known as '1000 Beasts'.

Amy was so happy after her first single ‘Emilio’ had reached number two in the Irish iTunes singer/songwriter charts, that she decided to write the next song and Heartbreak happened. She said, “It's incredible how songs can reach a global audience these days. I was looking at the 'Emilio' stats on Spotify this week. It only has 5,000 streams but has listeners worldwide from Ecuador to Japan to Australia. It's hard to believe for a song that was only publicised in the local Kildare and Wicklow press.” Her inspiration for songs comes from her experience as a teenager. She says, “Heartbreak is inspired by all the teenage drama many girls go through. You see it all the time, from social media to TV”.

Heartbreak was released on Friday, 4 January 2019 (source: https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2019/01/10/amys-new-single-is-a-real-heartbreaker/) on  iTunes, Spotify and other digital stores and is available at amyb.ie. Amy has appeared on Ireland AM on TV3 and on 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott Show. She is still in school at St Mary’s College, Naas and is studying for the upcoming leaving cert exams, while writing and singing songs too. Her father Dave, is a well-known photographer and her mother Antionette, teaches in Piper’s Hill, Naas.
