Memories- Indian School, Bahrain...

I have got lots of memories during my childhood days back in Bahrain! There are so many things I just can't forget and neither will those meories leave me and go away! Because they are meant to stay forever!!! My stay in Bahrain revolved around my wonderful family, my superb and amazing friends (I can never forget them no matter how much I try... :p )... and my BEST SCHOOL- INDIAN SCHOOL!!!... I also have some great memories in our Marthoma Church and Sunday School (held at National Evangelical Church), VBS, prayer meetings and so on... But nothing ever compares to our School Days in Bahrain!!!

So, here are some drawings of mine and my friends during our 8th standard and 9th standard (1992,93,94,95...).  I also got a page each from my old sticker book collection and my old autograph/slam book. Funny things!!! Some drawings were mostly during class hours while the teacher was teaching while some were during free periods or Art and Craft classes and the rest was done at home! The drawings were all for fun and drawn during our young and innocent days and no drawings were done to offend anyone in anyway.  Of course all Indian School students are cool guys so Im pretty sure everyone'e going to enjoy this memory lane down to the best INDIAN SCHOOL BAHRAIN!!!

Business and Office Technology Course in SCOIL CHONGLAIS Baltinglass- With the Best Faculty and Colleagues 2012!

BUSINESS AND OFFICE TECHNOLOGY COURSE IN SCOIL CHONGLAIS, BALTINGLASS

I have joined this course in September and it's one of the best and important decisions I have taken since stepping into Ireland.  It's a great one year course for PLC (Post Leaving Certificate) students and you also have some of the nation's finest Faculty to equip you with all the knowledge, training and skills you will require in any type of organisation.

While our Course Instructor, come hail or snow, everyday makes sure she gives us Typing tests so we pass the 'Speed Test' later this year, another staff gives it all she's got in training us with 'Database and Payroll'  skills.  Our 'Spreadsheets' Teacher has successfully opened our eyes into the world of 'V-Lookups, H-Lookups, Ifs and Macros'.  Then comes our 'Communications' Teacher, in all elegance and professionalism, gets the tasks done by us, whether it's 'Letters, Magazines, or Reports', in the same measure- elegantly and professionally.  The sweet Miss who teaches us 'Espanol- Spanish' also makes us Spanish dishes like 'Tortilla- Spanish Omelette', because she knows we are all sweet students as well.

After the first week itself I realised how lucky I am to be in this class of 2011-12 with the best colleagues sitting all around you. Though I haven't yet  spoken to some of them as freely as I would like to, I know they are all a funny, friendly and fun-loving bunch of people to be around with.  While one is quiet and calm, the other is vibrant and loud. Then one is organised by dating and filing each day's documents, while another requests the same documents each day as the previous day's docs are lost in the pile on his desk.  While one is a dedicated sportsman, the other is the Secretary of the Sports Club.  While one is wondering which College to join after the course, another counts the days remaining for the next big vacation so he can plan out his holiday breaks.  But, no matter what, each one is intelligent, smart, works hard and supports each other all the time.  The goal is common- getting a good job after the training! This is the great batch in the BOTC class this year.  Hope we get to spend a day together for a trip or a fun day outside or something like that so some good memories can be cherished for a long time. 

Walking into the school premises early in the morning is always a pleasant experience as you have all those mischieviously wonderful school boys and girls running around, shouting and greeting you with "Hi Sunny", which sometimes do make me wonder what they would be upto. And these are the students of a School which has made it's presence globally known with both national and world records in many fields.  So they are definitely the future Superstars of Ireland.  During the breaks, you can buy the graciously served fresh tea/coffee/drinks along with some tasty snacks, the smell of which won't leave your head until you have them all. The School infrastructure is also one of the finest in Ireland and we students are given training with the help of every latest technology a modern school is bound to provide. The best of its kind!  Located amidst vast greenery overlooking the high mountains and just a few minutes walking distance from the town, Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglass is surely the place for education!

‘Comb to Impress...’

School Days, the time I realised  that even though I didn’t know why, my hands would automatically reach for my hair and try to tidy it each time I saw the girls I admired from a distance. And this wasn’t a reflex action that was only affecting me but it was noticeable on almost all my gang members as well. As a college statement, the hair games became more of a personal style statement rather than a ‘comb to impress’ statement. The hair efforts to impress were only minimal, as idolising movie stars and pop stars were the in-thing. Enter work life and your hair was only meant to satisfy the ‘Company Rule Book’. Now married, I realise that my hair is only part of my human form and I must ensure that I comb it to have a neat appearance, not only at home but also in society.

  

‘The unwanted foes- Dandruff, Dryness and Damaged Hair!’

But during all these years, for most of us, the hair on our head is always accompanied by unwanted foes- Dandruff, Dryness and Damaged Hair! While some of us have either one or two problems, the rest of us have got them all. And this is why we always look for that ‘All-in-One’ shampoo. A majority of the advice I got during all these years from all sorts of sources, was to use the all-in- one shampoos- anti dandruff shampoo, shampoo for restoring damaged hair, and shiny and silky hair shampoos for dry hair.

And this global shampoo advice worked for few, but only partially, as shampoos only give a temporary and minimal result. So why does it not give a complete desired result? The answer is that, it is not shampoo alone which can solve your hair problems. Shampoos are only one half of that problem solving process. The other half is the good old nourishing hair oil! Yes, the Shampoo and the Hair Oil. Together, they give you the hair of your dreams.

In India, this is the secret that was passed by our ancestors and is still being followed today- ‘Don’t forget to use oil for smooth and healthy hair growth’.  This is why some of us still use hair oil even today. Apply hair oil half an hour before your shower. Take the liberty to give yourself a good head massage during that time. Let the oil take its time in drenching every bit of hair on your head and making sure the magic begins working. The magic is the oil nutrients that grab hold of the hair roots and repair, build and strengthen the whole strand of hair. During shower, add a little shampoo, rinse it well, and wash it off. While you can use hair oil on a daily basis, it is advisable to use shampoo only occasionally. Repeat this process for some weeks and you will definitely see the results. ‘My Memorable Hair Day’

 

“…Yes, it was this sight that made my happiness spread to my entire body…”

Great hair moments are commonly experienced during your first dates, at parties and fashion shows. But I think in my life, there was one extra special moment where I felt this oil and shampoo nourishment made my hair-day. And this ‘wow’ moment was when I went to hospital to see my wife cradling our first-born in her hands. Yes, while it was this sight that made my happiness spread to my entire body, I also believe that at that time the hair-work had also added a tiny little bit of happiness, making my great day memorable forever!

Now 14 months old, Daniel's Baby Shoes no longer fits him. He looked really cute when he had them on. Looking at the shoes recently we were proud that he has outgrown them. The baby pair he were a blue, red, and one with numbers and alphabets on it. Of course since he was at home most of the time he never got many opportunities to wear them. Though it brings to memory the few times he actually wore them, we know it's now time to get him a new pair of walking shoes. He started walking steadily all by himself almost about 2 months back. Till then he was all wobbly. So here's his old pairs of shoes in video:

Daniel has a Toy Drum which was gifted by our friend. It's a colourful musical drum with a smiling face on each side. However for a long time our baby wasnt interested in this toy and few months back the battery died out. But since he didnt care about the drum I didnt put in new batteries either. But few weeks after his first birthday he suddenly started to show an interest in the drum. So my wife decided to sit with him and did the first drumming. All of a sudden he starts to do the same. And he was so happy while drumming. So now this is his new playtime activity- drumming!

Baby Boy First Year Photo Frame- Daniel's First Year Pictures!

This is a Photo frame titled 'My First Year' where you can put monthly pcitures of your baby till the first year. The monthly pictures are all equally sized and smaller while the biggest picture space is for the first year which is at the center of the frame surrounded by the monthly pics. The frame is blue in color because its for a baby boy while a baby girl's first year photo frame is usually found in pink color. There are four small depictions of a teddy bear, a feeding bottle, a pram and a pair of baby shoes on all the four corners of the frame and are silver in colour. We have put our baby's photos in here after he turned one and now it looks very nice in our Living Room. Baby Dan sometimes looks at the pics and laughs and speaks a lot to his own photos and in his own language! We see this and start laughing. Yup, we're pretty glad we got this photo frame.

Toy Dog laughing like a Human Being

A cuddly, cute and funny toy dog! It also laughs like a human being. Without batteries he's your average cuddly little toy dog. But once he's powered up you cant stop him. His tail wags and he even rolls over. He laughs and laughs and after some time you too get into the act. Even you will start laughing followed by your whole family. Haha....a great toy pet for your kids. Our baby loves him. He just wont take his eye off this laughing toy dog!

3 Easter Chocolate Eggs inside Knitted Animal-shaped Bags

My wife bought 3 Caramel Chocolate Eggs from her friend during the Easter Week. These chocolates are egg shaped and are full of caramel inside. But what I liked about it was that her friend knitted 3 bags to put the chocs inside. And the bags were knitted in the shape of animals. Two were chicks- one white in color and the other in yellow colour while the third was a bunny. I took some snaps putting all of them together. The chocs were tasty and the bags look real good.

"Thrill Seeker" 80 year old Irish Granny celebrates Birthday by jumping for Charity

At 80, she is not sitting at the couch and knitting. Instead she is out with her grandchildren skydiving and that too for charity! A courageous and daring lady who goes out to what most people would consider "unbelievable" for grannies her age. Elizabeth Biddy McCormin is aiming to raise Euro 10,000 for the Wicklow Hospice Foundation. A former Nurse herself, she is concerned about the poor funds that is required to run Palliative Care services in Wicklow. As explained in her personal message in Facebook, she aims the Foundation to "build a free standing, 12 bed, level 3 hospice building in County Wicklow. This will be a Consultant led specialist service with a multi-disciplinary home care team attached, and should also include a day centre, which will give the people of Wicklow a choice about how and where they spend their final days."

She said she performed the successful 10,000 ft sky-jump and not a charity-walk or bike ride because she always led an adventurous life. Born in India, she also worked in Kenya and fondly remembers the time she spent there. The world is now amazed and inspired by this SuperGran who says she's ready to repeat her daredevil act at 90! Biddy, you are truly an inspiration.

Finally I uninstalled Internet Explorer 9 & Reinstalled IE8 as IE9 hangs my System and Internet

Windows Important Update- Service Pack for Windows Vista and IE8

Two months back I got that "Important Update" from Windows and they installed the Service Pack for Windows Vista. Later another update installed Windows Internet Explorer 8 which I thought was really great becasue IE8 is much faster and simpler to use than the previous versions. It also has some new options which can be used hassle-free and they make your browsing much smoother.




Install Internet Explorer 9

However, a few weeks back I got a new "Important Update" and Internet Explorer 9 was installed. As I was already impressed with IE, 8 I thought

"Great! If IE8 was superb then IE9 must be the ultimate!"

But unfortunately IE9 was the worst browser I ever came across. Well, atleast until now.

What problems I faced while using IE9?

1. It was taking a very long time to load as though they werent slow enough already.
2. While you browse the whole thing just gets stuck. I tried waiting for some time but no use. I could have used Task Manager and closed it but the whole system was stuck which is why I had to power it off. I restarted the system again hoping the problem would be resolved, but to my disappointment the browser gets stuck while browsing again.
3. I assumed that it might be some temporary technical problem with Windows itself so I opted for my good ol Firefox- that trustworthy browser of all times! But now there's no Internet connection. So here I go again restarting the system all over again. Yes not only does the system gets hung, the Internet connection also stops.
4. Above all, each time you open IE9 you get a dialogue box suggesting that you remove some of the items you wouldnt need so that IE9 would be smooth and fast. Guys- that suggestion is a joke- it does you no good. Probably it may speed up the browsing but whats the point of it if everything is going to get hung anyway!

Internet Explorer 9 is the Real Culprit!

Now this was going on for almost a week when I decided to test it one final time today to make sure that the real culprit was IE9 itself and not my system or Firefox or my Internet connection. Once more I open IE9, start browsing and 'Voika!'- the system is stuck again. No buttons will work now. I look at the internet icon and the connection is gone! So there you have it- IE9 is the real culprit. So I have just restarted the system and happily browsed with Firefox. No hang-ups and no connection problems.

And this is why I have finally unistalled IE 9 and reinstalled IE8! I hope Windows take care of the IE9 bugs.
