This Nickelodeon Kraang toy version is based on the character’s first movie appearance in the 2016 TMNT movie Out of the Shadows (directed by Dave Green and written by Josh Appelbaum/ André Nemec) which is the sequel to the 2014 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (directed by Jonathan Liebesman), the reboot series produced by Michael Bay. The film stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Stephen Amell, Will Arnett, Laura Linney, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Brian Tee as The Shredder, Tyler Perry, Gary Anthony Williams, Stephen Farrelly, and Brad Garrett as the voice of Kranng. Judith Hoag, the actress who played April O'Neil in the original 1990 TMNT film had a cameo role as Rita, April's boss, in a deleted scene. In the 2012 TV series, Krang’s name is referred to as ‘The Kraang’ which is a plural name for a species of aliens.

Originally called ‘Krang’, the fictional supervillain Kraang is a character in almost all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles related franchise merchandise, comics, games and media. He was most famous as the small alien, that looks like a brain with octopus like arms, moving around in a big fully armoured technologically advanced Robot body in the 1987 animated cartoon series, comic books and video/computer games. Inspired by the alien race in the original comics, Utroms, David Wise created the Krang character to supply the Shredder with extraterrestrial technology so Master Splinter and the Ninja Turtles Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Donatello can be defeated and crime can flourish with the help of the Foot Soldiers. April O Neil and Casey Jones are friends of the crime fighting Turtles while Bebop and Rocksteady are the partners in crime with Shredder. James Avery (Will Smith Uncle Philip Banks in Fresh Prince of Bel Air) was the voice actor of Shredder in the 1987 TV animated series along with Dorian Harewood, Pat Fraley, Jim Cummings, Townsend Coleman and William E. Martin.

Krang TMNT Comics

While the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ (by comic book writer-artists Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman) first appeared in an American comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984, Krang first appeared in the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures’ comics Vol 1 #1 published by Archie Comics in 1988. Originally, the artists planned to parody four popular 1980s comics. So, they self-published a single-issue comic keeping in mind Dave Sim’s Cerebus, Frank Miller’s Ronin and Marvel Comics Daredevil and New Mutants.

The character Tumnus is a faun in the 1950 novel series called The Chronicles of Narnia written by C.S. Lewis. Tumnus, a faun who carries an umbrella and delivers parcels through snowy woods, appears in the ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and also in ‘The Horse and His Boy’ and ‘The Last Battle’. He is the first creature the character Lucy Pevensie meets in Narnia and though he first works for the White Witch, he later befriends Lucy Pevensie and joins Aslan's forces. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are four British children who escaped during the war to the countryside and find a wardrobe that leads to the fantasy world of Narnia where they join the Lion Aslan to fight against the forces of Jadis, the White Witch.

This is a 2005 fantasy film based on the children’s novel by the same name. It was co-written and directed by Andrew Adamson and produced by Mark Johnson and Phillip Steuer and the production companies Walden Media and Walt Disney Pictures. It was distributed by Buena Vista Pictures. It stars William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley. Tilda Swinton plays the White Witch, James McAvoy plays Mr. Tumnus and the Lion Aslan is voiced by Liam Neeson.

The character Miguel is from the 2017 Walt Disney movie Coco conceived and directed by Lee Unkrich. Miguel is a 12 year old Mexican boy in Santa Cecilia who is also an aspiring musician and loves to play the guitar and make music. In an emotional outburst he goes away from home but accidentally gets transported to the Land of the Dead. In order to return to his living family in the present world and reverse his family’s ban on playing music, he must seek help from his deceased great great grandfather who was a great musician and Coco’s husband. Along the way he has a musically extravagant adventure in the magical Mexican musical culture and meets some interesting characters along the way.
