OSR dropped their movie review on Drishyam 2 in their YouTube
channel. Their verdict: they didn’t like the movie because they felt its too melodramatic unlike the Hindi remake version of the first part which they had seen and also they did not understand most of the dialogues. But they did understand the Hindi part one version.

Now OSR are 2 really cool funny guys who give some honest feedback on what they see. And so they are believable. Also they are from the cinema background and they know their craft which is why their videos are interesting. There is so much about acting and film making that you can learn from their videos. However, after watching their review on Drishyam 2 it was obvious something was missing. What was missing was the usual logical reasons and obvious facts we hear from them which justify their feedback. Nevermind that they didn’t like the movie. After all we all like some and dislike some and we have the right to give our opinions. But here are 2 professionals from the film background who have disliked this movie due to some strange reasons. They had some technical reason. Okay fair enough especially since most of us are not techsperts so its fine. But the other reasons were that the movie was melodramatic, the acting was just okay, the ‘Tea Shop Worker’ was more lively, too much closeup shots, etc.

Forget all this, it was Rick’s last statement that made us wonder. He said,” I dont understand why the parents felt it was greater punishment for him to live with guilt than pay for the crime he did against their son”. Lol, this is like we watch something we don’t understand and yet we continue watching it till the end only to be guessing what is happening from what we are seeing, rather than understanding the dialogues what is being spoken.

And Im not even going to say that the video started with Korbin saying, “We have not seen the original Malyalam first part Drishyam. But we only saw the Hindi remake. And one person told us we can watch Drishyam 2 without watching the original Malayalam first part as it is almost the same as the Hindi remake, which we have seen. So we watched Drishyam 2”. Okay so now everything makes sense right.

Anyway, most of us are fans of OSR and that is why I thought that I might share few tips to them just so they can understand the movie a bit better especially since they have not watched the original first part, Drishyam.

Drishyam for a Hollywood remake

If the reports are true, then Drishyam will be remade into a Hollywood film with Hillary Swank as the proposed lead making it a woman oriented lead story instead of the original male lead character of Georgekutty played by Malayalam film actor Mohanlal. Reports say Jeethu Joseph, the writer and director of the original Drishyam, said in an interview on Red FM that a person contacted hm about making an English remake in Hollywood with a female-centric story.

Drishyam 2 was originally planned for a theatrical release, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the film was released through the OTT service Amazon Prime Video and was released worldwide on 19 February 2021. An over-the-top (OTT) media service is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms, the companies that traditionally act as a controller or distributor of such content. Amazon Prime Video, or simply Prime Video, is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming and rental service of Amazon.com, Inc., offered as a standalone service or as part of Amazon's Prime subscription. The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by Amazon Studios or licensed to Amazon, as Prime Originals (or Amazon Originals) or Exclusives.
