About
The Chronicles of Narnia Film Series (2005-2010)
Three films have been produced from the
7 book series of novels by C.S. Lewis. The Narnia series revolves around the
adventures of children who play central roles in fighting evil against Narnia. The
true King of Narnia, Aslan, a wise and powerful talking lion always guides the
children. The main adversary in the film is the White Witch (Jadis) and the children
mostly featured in the films are the Pevensie siblings. The first two films
were directed by Andrew Adamson and the third film was directed by Michael
Apted. A fourth film was to be directed by Joe Johnston. The Magician's Nephew
was to be the fourth entry to the series but in the fall of 2011 Walden Media's
contract with the C. S. Lewis estate expired, placing the possibility of
another film on indefinite hold. Bbut it was announced in 2018 that new
adaptations of the series would be made for Netflix. The three films have
grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide. Disney eventually purchased Fox on March
20, 2019 and now owns the rights to all three Narnia movies.
