More than 3,000 people from over 120 countries have been conferred with Irish citizenship at ceremonies in Killarney, Co Kerry
They took an oath of fidelity and loyalty to the State and received certificates of naturalisation at the ceremonies.
The events centre is one of only a handful across the country capable of accommodating the numbers involved and it will be the location for such citizenship ceremonies involving large numbers in the future.
Candidates who are originally from Poland make up the biggest block applying for citizenship, at 586.
And with Brexit moving a step closer, almost one tenth of those granted citizenship today are from the UK.
Among those conferred with citizenship was Justine Davey, the British-born wife of Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe.
Mr Donohoe declined to comment on his wife's citizenship in interviews after the ceremony.
