Sachin Tendulkar has retired from Cricket- Last test match against West Indies- Shane Warne of Australia says Sachin Best Batsman

Sachin Tendulkar has retired from Cricket- Last test match against West Indies- Shane Warne of Australia says Sachin Best Batsman

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has retired. A sad day indeed for all his die-hard fans. But he has left a legacy in the sport of Cricket which no one else can match. Don Bradman once said Sachin's batting was similar to his own. The whole world has seen how Sachin used to be a one man army till the late ninetees. Along came Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virendar Sehwag and all hell broke loose for Team India. Team records started changing. Yes Sachin was finally relieved to a certain extent at last. And from this period onwards he started to enjoy his game. A break in the form of injuries blocked Sachin for few years. But he came back, stronger, and once again showed why he is Sachin Tendulkar! Well, as always, there are critics for Sachin as well. They say he never won games for India. But then that is the whole logic for Cricket- its a team game and not an individual game. If Sachin alone was supposed to win matches then why is there the need for the remaining 10 cricketeers? Then they say he played for records. Really? So what you say is Sachin has an uncanny divine or magical power of deciding which record to break before the match begins? Wow! Thats news to me.

They then say he crumbles under pressure because his average in the 4th innings in test matches is very poor. Again you expect him to be the solo cricketer for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, eh? What more can a human being do on the cricket field? In that case hows this for pressure handling- Sachin is the top scorer in 3 ODI World Cups!

Anyway, he has now retired leaving an empty space in the hears of every cricket lover.

All the best Sachin Tendulkar.

And thank you very much for all the entertainment during the 2 decades!!!

BALTINGLASS D1 PYLON ACTION GROUP

BALTINGLASS NO PYLONS HERE PROTEST
There are meetings being held in Baltinglass, Carlow and other areas in order to create awareness about the dangers of this project. Meetings and workshops have already been held by ‘BALTINGLASS D1 PYLON ACTION GROUP’ in Fatima Hall and Horan’s Bar in Baltinglass. Notices and leaflets are being distributed in shops, churches, schools, sports clubs and every other possible outlets.  Funds are also being collected by the campaign representatives for spreading awareness to every resident in the proposed corridor route. Websites like http://www.baltinglass.ie and http://www.baltinglassparish.ie/ also mention when these meetings take place. All public representatives, members of various groups and associations and locals are actively participating for this cause.  Placards depicting a transmission tower with the slogan ‘NO PYLONS HERE’ are already being circulated.

The local campaign has this message for everyone in Baltinglass, Ireland:

“REMEMBER: THE DEADLINE IS 26TH NOVEMBER, IF, AFTER WHICH OUR ROUTE IS CHOSEN FOR THE PROJECT, PREPARE TO STAND AGAINST IT!”

About the Project

Baltinglass Pylons Map
Baltinglass Pylons Map- EirGrid Brochure
As part of the Gridlink Project, EirGrid has Proposed Grid Link Pylon and Power Line Corridor Option D1 Route from Great Island to Dunstown in Kildare, covering Baltinglass, Hackettstown, Wicklow, East Carlow, Carnew and Tinahely. These overhead pylons and cables pose serious dangers in many ways to the residents of Baltinglass. An alternative to the overground transmission towers is undergrounding the cables. Though its cost is slightly higher and exceeds the budget of the overhead Grid link project, the important factor, which are human beings, remain safe and secure.  So what are the dangers linked to the pylons?

Health

The pylons give out electromagnetic currents which is harmful for any normal human being who comes into close proximity with it. This negligent construction, though good for the future of communications, will result in the mass outbreak of cancer, leukaemia, miscarriages, brain cancers, dementia and other related illnesses. It is a known fact that children are more prone to deaths due to major illnesses and if this is the case, then the future of Baltinglass will be in trouble!

 Land Invasion

The project is launched with the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. This means that when EirGrid comes to your land and begin to set up these towers, you cannot say ‘No’ to them even though you own the land. It is a national project and “Under European policy, Ireland’s national goal is to meet 40% of electricity demand from renewable sources by 2020 – these include
wind, wave, tidal and biomass energy. The Grid Link Project will enable this to happen. They will have right over your land which will also be a block to any plan you may have made like building a second house in your land or modifying your land to make it a beautiful garden.

Tourism

County Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, has the unique distinction of generating huge revenue all the year throughout through tourism. This revenue will be affected because the pylons will damage the entire beauty and well maintained landscapes of this wonderful county as there will be two or more towers being built every kilometre. This is a sight for sore eyes in what was once a natural green heritage for Ireland.

Archaeological Heritage

Baltinglass, a historical town, has many archaeological areas, monuments and heritage homes. The proposed construction will break this cultural map into a totally undesired modern cracked town changing the entire heritage look of the town.

Economy

The pylons will cause deaths and illnesses to the people. The remaining people will be forced to leave Baltinglass for the sole purpose of survival. If people desert Baltinglass, every business will be shut down. This inturn affects the contribution to the national economy and because of the overheading project, Ireland the great nation will be down on its knees again. Will EirGrid take up responsibility to save this Island in that case?

Other Factors

Baltinglass Residents
Baltinglass Residents
Other factors like dangers to animals, birds and their habitats, the disturbance to the sterile ground, disruptions of electrical goods in homes and so on are also reasons why the residents have raised their concerns about this project and are now protesting against the construction of the pylons in Baltinglass.

My Bahrain Memories- Indian School Magazine Pushpanjali 93

My Bahrain Memories- Indian School Bahrain Magazine Pushpanjali 93 Photos

When I went back home to Kerala the last time, I found two Indian School Magazines- years 1989-90 and 1993.  I also found a 1994 Newsletter.

I just saw the cover pages and I got tempted to open them and flip through each page.  But with each flip my life went back to those glorious days of my life. For some time I was back in my school, running around the entire campus, playing with my friends, creating maximum havoc until the teacher came to the class, throwing chalks at each other, discussing our favourite cartoons, serials, movies and pop songs... well the list goes on.  So I quickly snapped away from my trance because my present man was constantly reminding me to come back to the present real life.  And so my sad return to reality became a reality! And this trance happens all the time, whenever I see anything about Bahrain, about school or whenever I have free time and have the luxury to travel all the way back to my Indain School years.

Anyway, this time I didnt have enough time so I decided to capture some of the pages of the book in my camera.  And I just kept on clicking page after page.

Well, here are some of the pages I clicked and I am sure you ex ISB students will also be tranced back to your most memorable school life years. So go ahead...

Memories- Indian School, Bahrain...

Memories- Indian School, Bahrain...

I have got lots of memories during my childhood days back in Bahrain! There are so many things I just can't forget and neither will those meories leave me and go away! Because they are meant to stay forever!!! My stay in Bahrain revolved around my wonderful family, my superb and amazing friends (I can never forget them no matter how much I try... :p )... and my BEST SCHOOL- INDIAN SCHOOL!!!... I also have some great memories in our Marthoma Church and Sunday School (held at National Evangelical Church), VBS, prayer meetings and so on... But nothing ever compares to our School Days in Bahrain!!!

So, here are some drawings of mine and my friends during our 8th standard and 9th standard (1992,93,94,95...).  I also got a page each from my old sticker book collection and my old autograph/slam book. Funny things!!! Some drawings were mostly during class hours while the teacher was teaching while some were during free periods or Art and Craft classes and the rest was done at home! The drawings were all for fun and drawn during our young and innocent days and no drawings were done to offend anyone in anyway.  Of course all Indian School students are cool guys so Im pretty sure everyone'e going to enjoy this memory lane down to the best INDIAN SCHOOL BAHRAIN!!!

Enjoy guys.... :)
