12 year old Lukas Saved by Brave Teenagers in Drogheda Ireland on Saturday 28 December 2013

12 year old Lukas Saved by Brave Teenagers in Drogheda Ireland on Saturday 28 December 2013

The incident took place after 6pm.

Lukas and his friends were playing when he tripped and fell into River Boyne beneath the Bridge of Peace which is close to the Garda station. The riverside at this point does not have any fence or barriers.

As soon as he fell into the river, he began to shout for help. His friends quickly tried to help by tying their coats together and lowered it down for him to get a hold on.

During this time, one of his friends looked around and ran towards a group of local teenagers who had been playing football away from the river. The teenagers arrived at the scene and threw in a life-buoy.

While the teenagers were helping Lukas to be calm, one of them called 999 and the GardaĆ arrived with a flashlight. The GardaĆ took hold of the life-buoy that Lukas was holding onto until the Irish Coast Guard arrived and brought him ashore.

There was also an ambulance and Lukas, who by then caught mild hypothermia, was taken for treatment in the hospital.

Lukas’ parents were very grateful that their son was saved and glad that the teenagers were present at that very time of trouble.

The Hero Teenagers are Jack Hoey (15), Justin McKenna (15), Dylan Rogers (16) and Paul Maguire (16).

Thanks to their timely help and brave heart a life has been saved!

JACQUES KALLIS LAST MATCH IN TEST CRICKET- SOUTH AFRICA AND CRICKET LEGEND RETIRES!

JACQUES KALLIS LAST MATCH IN TEST CRICKET- SOUTH AFRICA AND CRICKET LEGEND RETIRES!

The ongoing Test Match between India and South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban, is the last test match Kallis is playing. Undoubtedly, the Greatest All rounder, if not better than Gary Sobers. A Cricket Legend. While Sachin retired two months back, the announcement of Kallis retirement is a big blow to the game of Cricket. He has however inspired many around the world and the South African team will definitely look to carry the torch that he has burnt from 1995 to 2013!

Thank you Kallis!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2013!!! Do our kids know Santa more than Jesus?

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2013!!!

#Merry Christmas everyone!

Santa Claus is a kind man. He loves to distribute toys. He has been doing it for years because he loves to make little boys and girls happy and cheer them up.

Our parents love to give us presents especially toys that we would love to play with.

Christmas songs are great to hear. It makes us want to sing and dance and spread joy and love to everyone.

Renuions at this time of the year is emotional and every parent loves their children to come home and have a delicious Christmas dinner as a family. Everyone loves to be together with their families.

Christmas cakes, trees, decorations, cards, parties, gifts and everything else in red and green is fabulous and cheerful.

Amidst all these, let us not forget the real deal about Christmas...

His name is Jesus Christ!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!"
John 3:16.

Do our kids know Santa more than Jesus? Do they know that God gifted the world with Jesus and made all believers partakers in the Kingdom of Heaven?

If not, then we must not lose direction of our Christmas duty bestowed upon us. While we share our presents, cards and cakes, we surely must share the season's true love, joy and hope which is Jesus Christ!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Paul Walker star of Fast & Furious movie series dies in car accident on 30 November 2013... really hope its a hoax....

RIP PAUL WALKER

Sad news... Just heard Paul Walker the star of Fast & Furious movie series has passed away in a car accident.

There have been rumours of celebrity deaths in the past which have turned out to be a hoax. So here too Im wishing and hoping for the best. Maybe we will know in 2 days time.

However, the first time I saw Paul Walker on screen was during my school days in Indian School Bahrain. I think I was in the 6th or 7th grade. He starred in an episode of 'Charles in Charge', a Scott Baio starrer comedy series, and his role was pretty good. His name in that episode was 'Russel Davis', a new hunk in school. As usual this episode was also damn funny. But the character of Russel Davis played by Paul Walker stood out. And that was one episode which really remained in my memories.

After a decade, 'The Fast And The Furious' releases, and the actor on screen looks really really familiar in this action movie directed by John Singleton and produced by Neal H. Moritz. Thanks to Google I learn that Brian O'Conner is Paul Walker, the same guy who played Russel Davis! Wow! After all these years I finally see him again. And this time, along with Vin Diesel and the gang, he is in an all-out action-packed movie which became an instant cult hit! Well done Paul Walker.

More movies later, he has established himself as a bankable actor who captured the hearts of both film-makers and the audience. He had been filming for 'Fast & Furious 7', which also stars, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell and Tony Jaa.

And now this news...

If it's not true, we are here to enjoy your role once again in 'Fast & Furious 7'.

But if it is true... RIP Paul Walker, you really entertained us and the Fast & Furious franchise will not be the same without you anymore.

Sachin Tendulkar has retired from Cricket- Last test match against West Indies- Shane Warne of Australia says Sachin Best Batsman

Sachin Tendulkar has retired from Cricket- Last test match against West Indies- Shane Warne of Australia says Sachin Best Batsman

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has retired. A sad day indeed for all his die-hard fans. But he has left a legacy in the sport of Cricket which no one else can match. Don Bradman once said Sachin's batting was similar to his own. The whole world has seen how Sachin used to be a one man army till the late ninetees. Along came Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virendar Sehwag and all hell broke loose for Team India. Team records started changing. Yes Sachin was finally relieved to a certain extent at last. And from this period onwards he started to enjoy his game. A break in the form of injuries blocked Sachin for few years. But he came back, stronger, and once again showed why he is Sachin Tendulkar! Well, as always, there are critics for Sachin as well. They say he never won games for India. But then that is the whole logic for Cricket- its a team game and not an individual game. If Sachin alone was supposed to win matches then why is there the need for the remaining 10 cricketeers? Then they say he played for records. Really? So what you say is Sachin has an uncanny divine or magical power of deciding which record to break before the match begins? Wow! Thats news to me.

They then say he crumbles under pressure because his average in the 4th innings in test matches is very poor. Again you expect him to be the solo cricketer for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, eh? What more can a human being do on the cricket field? In that case hows this for pressure handling- Sachin is the top scorer in 3 ODI World Cups!

Anyway, he has now retired leaving an empty space in the hears of every cricket lover.

All the best Sachin Tendulkar.

And thank you very much for all the entertainment during the 2 decades!!!

URGENT- STOP THE CONSTRUCTION OF PYLONS CARRYING OVERHEAD CABLES OVER BALTINGLASS!

Campaign against dangerous transmission towers/electricity pylons which emit electromagnetic fields responsible for cancer, miscarriages, brain cancer, childhood leukaemia, dementia & other illnesses

BALTINGLASS D1 PYLON ACTION GROUP

BALTINGLASS NO PYLONS HERE PROTEST
There are meetings being held in Baltinglass, Carlow and other areas in order to create awareness about the dangers of this project. Meetings and workshops have already been held by ‘BALTINGLASS D1 PYLON ACTION GROUP’ in Fatima Hall and Horan’s Bar in Baltinglass. Notices and leaflets are being distributed in shops, churches, schools, sports clubs and every other possible outlets.  Funds are also being collected by the campaign representatives for spreading awareness to every resident in the proposed corridor route. Websites like http://www.baltinglass.ie and http://www.baltinglassparish.ie/ also mention when these meetings take place. All public representatives, members of various groups and associations and locals are actively participating for this cause.  Placards depicting a transmission tower with the slogan ‘NO PYLONS HERE’ are already being circulated.

The local campaign has this message for everyone in Baltinglass, Ireland:

“REMEMBER: THE DEADLINE IS 26TH NOVEMBER, IF, AFTER WHICH OUR ROUTE IS CHOSEN FOR THE PROJECT, PREPARE TO STAND AGAINST IT!”

About the Project

Baltinglass Pylons Map
Baltinglass Pylons Map- EirGrid Brochure
As part of the Gridlink Project, EirGrid has Proposed Grid Link Pylon and Power Line Corridor Option D1 Route from Great Island to Dunstown in Kildare, covering Baltinglass, Hackettstown, Wicklow, East Carlow, Carnew and Tinahely. These overhead pylons and cables pose serious dangers in many ways to the residents of Baltinglass. An alternative to the overground transmission towers is undergrounding the cables. Though its cost is slightly higher and exceeds the budget of the overhead Grid link project, the important factor, which are human beings, remain safe and secure.  So what are the dangers linked to the pylons?

Health

Baltinglass No Pylons Here Placard

The pylons give out electromagnetic currents which is harmful for any normal human being who comes into close proximity with it. This negligent construction, though good for the future of communications, will result in the mass outbreak of cancer, leukaemia, miscarriages, brain cancers, dementia and other related illnesses. It is a known fact that children are more prone to deaths due to major illnesses and if this is the case, then the future of Baltinglass will be in trouble!

 Land Invasion

The project is launched with the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. This means that when EirGrid comes to your land and begin to set up these towers, you cannot say ‘No’ to them even though you own the land. It is a national project and “Under European policy, Ireland’s national goal is to meet 40% of electricity demand from renewable sources by 2020 – these include
wind, wave, tidal and biomass energy. The Grid Link Project will enable this to happen. They will have right over your land which will also be a block to any plan you may have made like building a second house in your land or modifying your land to make it a beautiful garden.

Tourism

County Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, has the unique distinction of generating huge revenue all the year throughout through tourism. This revenue will be affected because the pylons will damage the entire beauty and well maintained landscapes of this wonderful county as there will be two or more towers being built every kilometre. This is a sight for sore eyes in what was once a natural green heritage for Ireland.

Archaeological Heritage

Baltinglass, a historical town, has many archaeological areas, monuments and heritage homes. The proposed construction will break this cultural map into a totally undesired modern cracked town changing the entire heritage look of the town.

Economy

The pylons will cause deaths and illnesses to the people. The remaining people will be forced to leave Baltinglass for the sole purpose of survival. If people desert Baltinglass, every business will be shut down. This inturn affects the contribution to the national economy and because of the overheading project, Ireland the great nation will be down on its knees again. Will EirGrid take up responsibility to save this Island in that case?

Other Factors

Baltinglass Residents
Baltinglass Residents
Other factors like dangers to animals, birds and their habitats, the disturbance to the sterile ground, disruptions of electrical goods in homes and so on are also reasons why the residents have raised their concerns about this project and are now protesting against the construction of the pylons in Baltinglass.

My Bahrain Memories- Indian School Magazine Pushpanjali 93

My Bahrain Memories- Indian School Bahrain Magazine Pushpanjali 93 Photos

When I went back home to Kerala the last time, I found two Indian School Magazines- years 1989-90 and 1993.  I also found a 1994 Newsletter.

I just saw the cover pages and I got tempted to open them and flip through each page.  But with each flip my life went back to those glorious days of my life. For some time I was back in my school, running around the entire campus, playing with my friends, creating maximum havoc until the teacher came to the class, throwing chalks at each other, discussing our favourite cartoons, serials, movies and pop songs... well the list goes on.  So I quickly snapped away from my trance because my present man was constantly reminding me to come back to the present real life.  And so my sad return to reality became a reality! And this trance happens all the time, whenever I see anything about Bahrain, about school or whenever I have free time and have the luxury to travel all the way back to my Indain School years.

Anyway, this time I didnt have enough time so I decided to capture some of the pages of the book in my camera.  And I just kept on clicking page after page.

Well, here are some of the pages I clicked and I am sure you ex ISB students will also be tranced back to your most memorable school life years. So go ahead...
