Ireland not in next Cricket World Cup!
Despite pulling up great performances and winning matches in the international arena, minnows Ireland is snubbed by the great Cricket council ICC! Ireland has proved that they are not the ordinary minnow team when minnows are considered but they do have the potential to beat a full nation member team on their day. And that too consistently. But now ICC has decided that the next world cup in 2015 should only be the top ten full nation member countries irrespective of their wins or losses when compared to minnows.
ICC Decision for 10 Nation Cricket Cup not helping Minnows
This decision does no good to upcoming minnows like Ireland and Netherlands because they will not get the opportunity to play against top nations and will also lose the experience of playing in big tournaments. What Ireland and Netherlands need now is experience! They have to be included in tri nation tournaments so they can develop their cricketing skills. After all wasn't India and Sri Lanka also considered as minnows at one stage? South Africa and New Zealand didn't reach cloud 9 in a single day either! This only demotivates countries who would like to enter and perform in the Cricket sport. ICC must change their decision in order to get the support of all Cricket fans and take steps to ensure regular tournaments with minnows are organised.
ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup only profiting ICC
However ICC has proved that this decision only profits them as they get more sponsors to pay hefty sums only for matches with full nation countries. Well the ICC has now announced a meeting to take place in June 2011 where they may reconsider or put in new conditions for Ireland to meet if they want to play the next world cup. Anyway, the world now asks: "Is this an ICC World Cup 2015 or Ten Nation Cricket Cup?"
